Self-Discharge Rate

Self-discharge rate is the natural, non-linear process bywhich batteries lose stored energy over time, even when not in use, due tointernal chemical reactions. It is expressed as a percentage of total capacitylost per month or year, which can be accelerated by high temperatures, age andcycle count, as well as state of charge. Lithium-ion batteries lose about0.5-3% monthly, while nickel-based batteries may lose between 10-30%.
