Active Cell Balancing
One method of cell balancing, active cell balancing, is used by battery management systems to redistribute energy from higher-charged cells to lower-charged cells during charging or discharging. Active cell balancing uses active components such as capacitors, inductors, or converters to improve charging efficiency, extend runtime, and enhance battery life. However, it is more complex, expensive, and requires a larger physical footprint than passive cell balancing.
