Thermal Runaway

Thermal runaway is a self-accelerating chain reaction, typically in lithium-ion batteries. As temperatures rise, exothermic chemical reactions begin, causing the battery to generate more heat and leading the cell to reach extreme temperatures. When thermal runaway occurs, it often causes fire, smoke, and the release of explosive gas.
