State of Charge (SoC)
State of Charge (SoC) is the level of charge in an electric battery relative to the maximum capacity. Acting as a fuel gauge for batteries, it is usually expressed as a percentage from 0% to 100%, helping users determine the remaining energy available. Typically, the SoC is calculated by battery management systems, and while it usually provides an estimate, it can be influenced by temperature, battery age, and usage patterns.
